The following questions will help you define your needs clearly to your designer/developer. And in turn determine whether you need a simple one page design, or something more complex possibly generating pages dynamically on the fly.

Q: About You

  • What is your company profile?
  • What do you do?
  • What are the main objectives for your web site?
    E.g. Promote the company's image, Increase Sales of existing products, Advertise new products, Support customers, attract new customers.
  • What image do you want to convey to your customers?
    E.g. Traditional, Stylish, Eccentric, Approachable, Youthful, Trustworthy.
  • What is your target audience?
    E.g. Young/Mature, adventurous/calm, Company's/Individuals, Male/Female.
  • How should a web site fit into any existing marketing activities you are involved in?
  • What is your USP (Unique Selling Point)?
  • How is your company different from your competitors?

 Q: Functionality

  • What are the key functions or areas you need to cover?
  • Do you need to update the web site yourself? If so how often?
  • Do you need the web site to integrate with existing systems?
    E.g. Stock control, Asset management.

 Q: Content

  • How many pages will you need and what will they contain?
  • Do you just require a basic site or would animated pages work better for you?
  • Do you need help with copy writing?
  • Do you already have pictures of your product(s) or will you need help with photography or picture research to give a professional look?

Q: Designs that work

List any web sites or other material that you have seen which portray an image that would work for you.
