Content Management Systems
What is a CMS?
A content management system (CMS) is a computer application used to create, edit, manage, search and publish various kinds of digital media and electronic text.
So why would you want one?
If you want to maintain the content of your website yourself, a CMS is the way to go, they are more expensive than a 'static' website, but if you want to continually update your websites content, it'll be the cheaper in the long run than paying a designer to maintain your site.
From a designer/developers standpoint it frees them up to work with you on new website features which can again if required be integrated into the CMS to allow you to maintain things into the future.
How much does it cost?
Thats one of those questions you can't answer without a discussion to understand what functionality is required, here's some things to think about:-
Do you want to:-
- maintain only text within a preset number of pages
- maintain text and images within a preset number of pages
- generate and maintain unlimited pages with text and image content.
- optimise all 'dynamic' pages via SEO
